What’s Good about Social Distancing? A New Website!

While it’s difficult for a social organization to practice “social distancing” during the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020, it’s the perfect time to gather information for a new website! Hopefully you don’t spend much time on our current website; actually, I was sad to go there 14 years after the university gave us the tools to create one and see it was pretty much the same as when I put it together in 2004. But now we’re branching out on our own (no, not like when we lived in the dorms and our parents sent care packages) with our own domain name www.dpcpsu.com.

If you’re like me and don’t live in either Daytona Beach or Palm Coast, you may wonder about the chapter name. Me too! I get it – the Daytona Beach/Palm Coast/Ormond Beach/Flagler Beach/New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater/Deland/Deltona/Debary/St. Augustine/Villages/Oak Hill/and-any-other-town-I-neglected-to-include chapter doesn’t roll off one’s tongue but how did Palm Coast lobby for the mention? It would be a perfect blog topic, if anyone knows the history…

My name is Renice Jones and I graduated from Penn State in 1979 with a degree in English Literature. I’m looking forward to being a curator not only of new events and stories but also maintain our chapter’s past. I’ve been out of the loop for several–okay, many–years and it looks like I missed a lot of great times. So if you have pictures to share and stories to tell, I’d love to include them on this site. Just send me a note through the Contact Page and I’ll get back to you and together we can create a blog post.

The website is under construction so I apologize for any non-working links or lack of content. I’m relying on you, the members of the Daytona/Palm Coast chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, to help me create awesome content and fill in the blanks.
