Our chapter was chartered in 2001 and we have more than 200 members. There are over 800 alumni in Volusia and Flagler counties and we would love to see more new members, and you don’t even need to be an alumni.
In June 2004 our Board of Directors developed our mission statement: “A vibrant community of PSU alumni and friends that fosters and promotes Penn State spirit and traditions, provides a link to the University and serves the needs of the chapter members.” As part of the mission we promote relationships with other Penn Staters and friends in Volusia and Flagler Counties.
Since 2004, due to the generosity of our members and continued fund raising, we have awarded over $13,000 in scholarships to deserving local students attending Penn State.
And we have a lot of fun!
- In the Fall we root for the Blue and White every Saturday at the Oyster Pub, complete with push-ups.
- We get together to watch PSU sporting events from basketball to golf.
- We hold an annual banquet that features a prominent Penn State speaker and excellent food!
- We host events ranging from baseball outings to the Daytona Tortugas, happy hours from Flagler Beach to New Smyrna Beach — don’t be surprised if you meet your East Halls roommate at one of our events!
- In the past we’ve had Derby Days, picnics with Creamery ice cream, riverboat cruises and more – who knows what this year will bring!
So come and join us! All you need is Penn State spirit.
